This past weekend, our very own Jessica had an unforgettable experience in Minnesota, where she attended the Minnesota Vikings game — one of her favourite NFL teams. But the highlight wasn’t just the game itself; it was meeting the Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders, including their groundbreaking male team members. Honoured to Meet the Team Jessica described the moment as truly special: “I felt truly honoured to have the chance to meet the Minnesota Vikings cheerleaders. They’re absolutely amazing and so professional—it was such a great experience!” From the opening performance to the sidelines, Jessica was blown away by the group’s talent, energy, and professionalism. First Impressions: Inclusivity in Action Before meeting them in person, Jessica watched their game-day performance and was struck by how seamlessly the male dancers fit into the team. “Their energy, talent, and professionalism really shine through. I also loved seeing the male cheer/dancers—they bring so much excitement and make the team even more fun to watch.” For Jessica, this moment was more than entertainment; it was a glimpse into the evolution of cheerleading. A Personal Connection Jessica also had the chance to speak with the cheerleaders and connect directly with Louie, one of the male dancers making waves in the NFL cheer world. “I told Louie how amazing he is, how much what he’s doing matters for everyone, and how important it is for the future of cheerleading. I also let them know that the CFCAO is cheering from Canada.” This exchange was a reminder of how international the cheerleading community truly is — united in support, encouragement, and breaking barriers. Changing the Narrative Like many fans, Jessica wasn’t sure what to expect when she first saw men dancing with poms alongside the women. What she witnessed, however, left her inspired: “Watching the women surround them, support them, and cheer them on was so inspiring. It made me realize there’s absolutely no reason men can’t do this. They belong out there, and they make the team even better. It shouldn’t be about your gender. It should be about what you bring to the team, your athleticism, your ability, and who you are as a person.” The Future of Cheerleading Jessica firmly believes the Minnesota Vikings are helping shape a brighter, more inclusive future for professional cheerleading: “By having both female and male dancers on their team, they’re showing that cheerleading is for everyone. This is going to open doors, break stereotypes, and make the future of cheerleading brighter than ever.” A Lasting Memory When asked what she will remember most, Jessica didn’t hesitate: “Every single Minnesota Vikings cheerleader was so kind, professional, inviting, and sweet. I am forever grateful that I had the opportunity to tell Louie how proud I am of him, how proud the CFCAO is of him, and to encourage him to keep going despite the negative voices. It truly was an unforgettable experience.” Jessica’s story reminds us all that cheerleading is evolving — and the inclusion of male cheerleaders on the Minnesota Vikings team is not just a milestone, but a movement. As alumni, fans, and advocates, we celebrate this progress and continue cheering loudly for inclusivity, representation, and the future of our sport.
