Shauna has been involved in Dance for most of her life. She trained at Dance Images by BJ in Moose Jaw where she currently runs the Ballet Program, as well as teaches Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, and Modern. As a dancer, she has completed all of her exams in the ADAPT Tap and Jazz Syllabus. She has also completed all of her exams in the CDTA Ballet Syllabus. Shauna is a Certified ADAPT Teacher in both Tap and Jazz, and holds her Full Membership in Ballet with the Canadian Dance Teachers Association. She is also very proud to be the CDTA Ballet Chairperson for the Saskatchewan Branch. Previously, Shauna was a Cheerleader for the Saskatchewan Roughriders from 1997 - 2003. During her time on the team, she had the opportunity to travel and perform at many Grey Cup events which included performing during the half- time shows with Shania Twain, Nelly Furtado, Bryan Adams , as well as many other prestigious events. While Cheerleading, she had the opportunity to become the Coach and Choreographer for the Saskatchewan Roughrider Cheerleaders from 2003,2004 & 2006 which was an amazing experience. After her time with the Cheerleaders, she continued to volunteer on the sidelines at Saskatchewan Roughrider Games as a member of the “F-Troop” with her husband from 2007 – 2017. Now, Shauna enjoys teaching dance full time, adjudicating, and teaching workshops. She believes that as a Dance Educator – continuing her own professional development is very important and attends training courses every year, including the New York City Dance Alliance Convention. She has taught at various Summer Workshops and has attended the Teachers Training Intensive at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet for more than 5 years. Being involved in the Community is also very important. Our Studio has implemented many different programs for Community involvement. Each year we give back to Creative Kids through our “Kids Helping Kids Dance-a-thon” which raises money to help less fortunate children take part in the Arts. We also host a “Dance For Hunger” Showcase that collects food donations that we give to the Moose Jaw Food bank. Each year we make a donation of nearly 3000 lbs of food. More recently, Shauna has started a Summer Dance Outreach program where Studio teachers visit local Daycare Centers and teach a class to the children at no cost to the Daycare. Shauna is very excited to share her passion and love of Dance with others and is looking forward to becoming a more involved member in the CFCAO in the years to come. It is an honor to work alongside with Stacey Ochitwa Schewaga as Co-Director for the Saskatchewan Division.
